God bless you. Well, good morning and welcome to Bibleline. Great to be with you today. Thank you so much for tuning in to the broadcast and we look forward to being with you every day, Monday through Friday. And we hope that you’re enjoying listening to Bibleline, wherever you might be hearing the program and thank you again for tuning in. We’re going to have a great day. And of course, we’re excited about where God is taking Bibleline. You can catch us on the internet right now at Bibleline Ministries.org.
If you go to our homepage and click on the TV set, it’ll connect you to Bible and television and radio programs that are there in archive for you to listen to. By the way, I’ve done about 40 of these classes and we have on CD the Book of Revelation, the Book of Daniel, the class I taught on the Holy Spirit, the class on the Rapture, class on parables, the class on how to lead souls to Christ. We have different wonderful books in the Bible like the Book of Jude, the Book of Hebrews, the Book of Romans, and many, many, many, many more.
You might inquire. Call our 800 number. We’ll be glad to ship out to you a resource sheet which will allow you to look over all the different things that we have to offer. Plus you can call our operators and they’ll be glad to tell you about maybe a class, a course that might be of particular interest to you. We have people across the country that use many of these as a facilitator for a Bible study, especially in the book of Revelation.
They’ll play maybe 30 minutes, have group discussion, and each week they’ll continue on. We’ve had wonderful reports from all across the country of people using these teachings as a means of facilitating that study. You might want to inquire about how to get these series and use them in your car, use them in your home, use them in your Sunday school class, use them in a home Bible study, but they will really work for you. And we cover the verses very thoroughly, verse by verse, right through the different books of the Bible and covering different topics thoroughly.
I think you’ll enjoy the series that I’ve taught. And I’ve taught for three different Bible colleges. I taught 11 years for the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago. I never thought I’d ever be doing what I’m doing today. I graduated in electrical engineering from the University of Florida and went through their five-year engineering program. Little did I realize God would change the direction of my life and have me preaching and teaching God’s Word. And here we are on Bible Island with you today.
Again, thanks for tuning in and you’re always welcome to come by during the day to visit our resource center. Or if you want to come out on a worship day, you’re welcome to come by and join us for worship here at Bible and headquarters at the Calvary Community Church in Tampa where on the pastor we’re located right next to the Tampa International Airport. We would love to have you come and visit us. We’re going to turn to the Bible for a few moments but it says in Matthew chapter 5, Jesus says, think not that I’m coming to destroy the law or the prophets.
There he is referring to the Scriptures, the law referring to the first five books given to us through Moses and then the rest of the Old Testament given to us called the prophets. He says, I am not come to destroy but to fulfill. What is interesting is that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament. I’ve read so many different books where critics have said that the God of the Old Testament is not the same as the God of the New Testament.
The God of the Old Testament is a God of wrath, the God of the New Testament is a God of mercy. And obviously they just don’t know how to rightly divide the word. That’s right. You know, it says in 2 Timothy 2 15, study to show thyself approved unto God as the workmen that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I was raised in a church where I had never heard the gospel and I was led to believe in the church.
I was raised in that Jesus Christ was sort of a Mr. Milke Toast. He was a wimp. He was frightened and afraid of his own shadow. I had the impression that when he was in the garden of Gethsemane and the soldiers came to take him that night when Judas betrayed him, that Jesus ran and hid behind the trees and under the bushes and they had to flush him out in order to arrest him. And that was my childhood impression.
I never, never sawoaded Jesus as anything else. But you know, Jesus is God. I didn’t realize that. I didn’t learn that until I was 18 and invited out to a Bible study. But you know, if you read the passage in John 18, it says here that Jesus entered into the garden, that is the garden of Gethsemane, I have been there numerous times on my many trips to Israel. And it says here that Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place for Jesus oftentimes resorted thither with his disciples.
Verse 3 of John 18 says, And Judas then having received a ban of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees come a thither with lanterns and torches and weapons. Kind of a scary scene. Soldiers coming at night with their torches with their weapons to grab an unarmed man. Jesus therefore, and I love this in verse 4, it says, knowing all things that should come upon him went forth, went forth, went forth. He wasn’t hiding. He walks out to meet these soldiers.
Christ wasn’t cowering, he wasn’t afraid, he wasn’t a wimp, and he said unto them, whom seek ye? Who are you looking for? He went right up to him, he knew of course. It says right there in the verse, knowing all things that should come upon him, he knew exactly what was going to take place. But he goes out to the soldiers and says, who are you looking for? and then they answered him and said, Jesus of Nazareth, and Jesus saved one of them, I am.
Now, I am is one of the divine titles of God. It’s the very title that God used when he appeared to Moses at the burning bush. And when Moses asked God what his name was, God said I am. Well, Jesus used that name and it says, Judas also, which betrayed him, stood there with him. with them. Verse 6 says, And as soon as he had said unto them, I am. They went backward and fell to the ground. Well, that’s a different picture, isn’t it?
These are trained fighting men with their torches, with their weapons. They fall flat on their back, just at the power of Christ uttering His name, I am. I think it’s going to humors myself. And then he asked them again who did you say you were looking for and this time i think they probably had difficulties pitting out they said jesus is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is i’m sure they had difficulty saying jesus of nazareth and then jesus said i’ve told you that i am and if you will take me let these go their way What man under such circumstances declares the terms of surrender?
He’s an unarmed man surrounded by a whole small army of trained fighting men with their weapons and he says, I’ll go with you, but let all my disciples go. He’s laying down the terms of surrender. You know, they didn’t even sit there and bargain with him. Unenorable circumstances, they would arrest everybody, I think, but Jesus lays down the terms of surrender. And sure enough, Jesus goes off that night and the next morning he’s taken before Pilate and then taken to the cross of Calvary.
Well Jesus is not a wimp, not a Mr. Milk Toast. In fact, if you look over in 2 Thessalonians, look at this. This is the New Testament now. This is where God is supposedly the God of love and the God of mercy and He’s not the God of the Old Testament. He’s not the God of wrath. say that the god of the Old Testament is presented as, and it says in 2 Thessalonians chapter 1 verse 8 that Jesus when he returns at his second coming, it says here in the New Testament in flaming fire.
Christ comes back taking vengeance on them that no not God and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Wow, that’s a different picture. I was never taught that in Sunday school. Again, I had this picture of a thin guy, a hard-leaning meat on his bones, afraid of his own shadow, a wimpy guy named Jesus. That was what my church taught or at least implied to me. And when I saw these passages, I said, whoa, how come I was never shown these?
Christ is God in the Garden of Gethsemane, just at the hearing of His name they fall back on their backside. And here in chapter 2, a chapter 1 of 2 Thessalonians, Christ comes back in flaming fire, taking vengeance on all of them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of all of Jesus Christ. who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power. Incredible, isn’t it? Well, you know, obviously people talk about the Bible, but really don’t know what they’re talking about half the time.
And certainly all those things that I had heard weren’t even true. And yet I find in the Old Testament that God is a God of mercy, He’s a God of forgiveness. You see it throughout the Old Testament. And in fact, the Bible tells us that God took the children of Israel out of Egypt in His mercy. They had done nothing to deserve it. And yet He destroys the Egyptian army and He takes them across the Red Sea, drowning the army of Egypt as they came after them and followed into the Red Sea and the sea closed upon them and drowned them all.
Obviously, God delivered them from the oppression of the bondage of Egypt and it was all by grace. Exodus 19 says it was on the basis of His grace that He did that, His mercy. And so I’m just amazed at how people don’t read the Bible very carefully and get it all backwards. Jesus Christ is, of course, the one who gave his life because he loves you and me, and he died so that you and I can be saved, forgiven of our sin.
But you know, he is also the same God of wrath, the Bible describes, that if you die without Christ, he will come back in flaming fire, taking vengeance on you. Boy, A lot of people don’t know they’re in deep trouble, but if you don’t know Christ as your Savior, if you’ve never trusted Him as you’re only hope of reaching heaven, then you’re going to experience the fierceness of the wrath of God Almighty as He comes back with vengeance upon those who do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
That says in 2nd, that’s Londones 1, 8, that obey not the gospel. How do you obey the gospel? The Gospel is believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and now is what we say. You obey the Gospel by believing by trusting Christ as your Savior. You disobey the Gospel by not believing or rejecting the Gospel, not trusting Christ as your Savior. And if you reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ, there is no hope for you. The Bible says that is the untargable sin.
If you die without Christ, you will be lost forever and ever and ever and ever and ever. In a great book we have, Christ is the same God as that of the Old Testament. Christ is God who took on human flesh, revealed to us in the New Testament. But He is the same God. I got of mercy to all those that would put their trust in Christ. I got of wrath, unto all those that would reject Christ as Savior.
There is no middle ground. Everybody on the planet will be judged by whether or not they have received Christ as Savior by faith, alone in Christ alone, or whether they’ve rejected Christ. I’m so glad I heard this wonderful good news, and I trusted Christ as my Savior. I’m Dr. Hank Linsch from Mrs. Bible, and we’re going to go to the phone lines. We have people waiting, all fear, and on air. And the phone number is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771, and we’re going now to Adam in Tampa, Florida.
Adam, welcome to my one. Pastor Hank, I’ve expressed… Well, that’s where they focus. They love the writings of Moses. But let me just share with you something interesting. Look at what Jesus says in John’s Gospel chapter 5. He tells here an unbelieving hostile Jewish audience. He says, Do not think verse 45 of John 5 that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one that accuses you even Moses in whom you trust. For had you believed Moses, this is the good verse verse 46, had you believed Moses, you would have been a good person.
He would have believed me, for he wrote of me.” And then it says in verse 47, if you believe not his writings, the writings of Moses, how shall you believe my words? So here Jesus is clearly telling us that Moses spoke about him. And one day Moses will point his finger at them and say, look, you didn’t pay attention to what I read. Even though you claim you read Moses, you didn’t believe what I said because I talked about Christ and you have rejected him.
And he says, had you believed Moses, you would have believed me, for he wrote of me, John chapter 5 verse 46. So clearly the story of the gospel is there in those wonderful first books of the Bible. Is he talking specifically in the day? Well yeah, he’s talking about a prophet that would come up of their own people like in the Moses, a great deliverer, and Moses was a type of Christ, and Jesus in Deuteronomy 18 is the fulfillment of that prophecy.
In fact, even when they came to John the Baptist, you read in the different Gospels, they said, are you that prophet? They were referring to that one that Moses has spoken about, and John the Baptist said, no, I am not. But he says, I’m the one who’s announcing his coming, and he was the one that prepared to wait for Christ. But Jesus is indeed that prophet that Moses had predicted would come, that Moses said, you better listen to him.
Yeah. Very good. Thank you. Welcome Adam. Thank you for calling into Bibleline today. Off-air we have David in St. Petersburg asking this question off-air. Did Jesus begin to throw or drive out the sellers and buyers out of the temple or was it just the sellers? No, he didn’t drive the buyers out. He drove out the sellers because the sellers were cheating people. They cheated people in two ways. If you brought your sacrificial animal from home, they rejected that. They said you had to buy one of their temple animals, which they charged you an exorbitant price for.
Then also, you couldn’t bring your normal currency that you would use. You had to use special temple money. So in order to be able to get temple money, you had to exchange there at those tables where the money changes were, and they would change your money into temple money. And of course they charged you a considerable fee for doing that. So they cheated you at least two ways. And Jesus was really disgusted at the fact that they’ve become a den of thieves, it says, and they were really stealing from the people by cheating them, not allowing them to bring their own animal and not allowing them to buy in their own currency.
David, thank you for calling in and I hope that helps. He was not upset that the people buying, he was upset at the people selling and changing money in the temple that cheated the people. I’m Dr. Engleinschruin, this is Bibleline. The phone number here if you want to call 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. okay we’re now going to go to jimmy in tampa for the jimmy welcome to buy blun you’re on there a little bit more dot that’s a yes i have a question about uh…
sent some uh… the act that he committed now he has got that he might be able to a bit now that act is that a act of suicide as well as vengeance on his enemy i’m curious about that well obviously he uh… brought down the house on himself and on his enemies as well so yes i he did commit suicide but he was still saved and uh… obviously suicide is not the impartable sin but certainly god doesn’t want you to take your life but in this case uh…
he was going to die anyway but he wanted to uh… in his death uh… be able tovenge uh… his enemies and so god allowed him to do that so they were the next suicide yeah it certainly was Okay, God, so I see he’s so… Yeah, and he was 11, absolutely. Okay, can you hear another picture about Saul God, commissioned by God to do a work? Well, you could probably say that, but actually the word apostle is a New Testament word and we have the prophets in the Old Testament and he was one of the greatest prophets, but then in the New Testament we have apostles and so it’s, you know, The word apostle actually means literally a sent one.
Of course Moses was a sent one, so we could probably apply that. But to try to stay with the biblical terms, we would stay with Col. Moses of Prophet. And then the apostles are those who were those twelve that Christ chose to be the ones to give out the gospel to be the first line of getting it out to the world. Okay, okay, Dr. Vincent what thank you very much. I enjoy you and have a good weekend Well same to you Jimmy and that was Jimmy in Tampa, Florida calling in Pat and Tampa calls in she has this offer questions.
He says when you disagree with other teachers of the Bible How do you know what to believe and how do you know which one is telling the truth? The answer to that question is Pat you compare them with scripture You have to check out what they say against the Bible. If you will take a look at Isaiah 820, it says, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. So that’s the way we do it even to this very hour.
If somebody preaches or says something and it disagrees with the Bible, then it is capital W-R-O-N-G wrong. I saw All of that, the very night that I got saved, the church I was raised in, Pat, implied that I had to work my way to heaven. When I was shown, Ephesians 2, 8, and 9, which says, 4 by grace or by mercy, are you saved through faith in Christ? And it’s not of yourself, it’s the gift of God, it’s not of works, lest any man should boast.
I’ll never forget in my mind I said, wow, somebody’s wrong, somebody’s wrong. My church was implying that it was by works. The Bible said it was not of works. I said, either my church is right and the Bible is wrong or the Bible is right and my church is wrong. I think you know which way I went. I chose the Bible. So you have to compare with what people are saying and test it against the Scriptures. It tells us in 1 John 4 1, don’t be gullible.
It says, beloved, don’t believe everything you hear. says but test the preachers and you test them with the scripture. Does their message agree with the Bible or does it disagree? And I’m afraid today we have a lot of people teaching things that are just not biblical. And in fact, most of Christianity teaches that you have to work your way to heaven, believe it or not. And so they’re wrong. They’re wrong. The Bible says it’s not of works, it’s the gift of God.
It has nothing to do with your obedience or your behavior. It has to do with Christ’s obedience and his behavior. Christ was the sinless Lamb of God and it was not what we do for God that saves. It’s what He did for us in Christ when we trust Christ. God saves us and saves us eternally. Thank you. We have Jerry in Pleasant Grove, New York, calling in. He leaves us off here a question. In Revelation 18 it speaks about an economic power.
How do you see this happening? Well right now I believe that we see it in all of the Western nations which are described I think in chapter 18 of Revelation as Babylon. It’s not Babylon the city because the Babylon the city was destroyed. In Isaiah chapter 13 it says it would never be rebuilt and you know it hasn’t. Saddam Hussein had tried to make it a tourist attraction and did some reconstruction, but nothing’s happened. Nobody lives there. The Bible said it would not be lived in, but it’s talking about the system of merchandising and exchanging of goods and selling and buying and so on.
And you see that all the way through chapter 18 of Revelation, and in the last days, this system that came out of ancient Babylon, spread them through the media Persian Empire, spread to the Grecian Empire, spread to the Roman Empire, and now has spread to the European common market and America. And we believe that we’re getting very close. The Lord’s return. It’s interesting that in the offering there behind the scenes is that apparently they’re talking about a new currency called the Amero equivalent to the euro of Europe that apparently behind the scenes they want to have a common currency for Mexico, Canada and the US of a watch out what’s happening behind the scenes.
I believe Europe and America will come together and control the Middle East. And that is, of course, the kingdom under the control of the Antichrist. It is that kingdom that will be destroyed by Christ that is returned that’s described in Revelation chapter 18. And I think we see that all the major trading of merchandise is in the West. It’s, uh, we’re the leaders of that. Anyway, we, uh, thank you for that question. And you’re welcome to call it. We have Claude in, uh, Toronto, Canada.
But we’re gonna have to hold Claude because we’re coming up so that on the break But we want to talk to you Claude. Thank you for calling in you’re welcome to hold or you can call back in a few minutes And we’ll do the second half of Bible and well, we gotta go to break. We’ll be right back. So don’t go away Stay tuned for Bible and go away Bibleline We’ll be back in a moment to pledge your support for Bibleline Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771 771 that’s 1-800-576-3771.
I’m Dr. England Stremitz. This is my blind and we’re very excited about being able to be with you. God bless you, all of you. We appreciate you all so much. And we love to get to meet you. We get some wonderful letters and cards and it’s so wonderful to hear of people getting saved, being challenged, and people coming by. And we have a wonderful diversity of listeners. We have many pastors that come by and tell us how much they appreciate this program, how it is not only encouragement to them but is a help to their congregations and that’s exciting.
We are so pleased to see how God is blessing my blood and we really want to appeal to you to pray for us, be partners with us in prayer every day. pray, the devil obviously doesn’t like the word to get out. And so he does everything he can to prevent that from happening. You know, it says in 2 Corinthians 4, 4, that Satan is the God of this world, that he blinds the minds of those which believe not, those that have not believed on Christ, that the light of the glory is possible of Christ who is the image of God should shine unto them.
Let’s continue to make an impact into Satan’s territory with my mind. We need your prayers but also we could use your financial support. We are totally dependent upon our listeners to be able to pay the bills that put us on the air. We are really not trying to get your money. I don’t get a salary. Our staff doesn’t get a salary. We volunteer ourselves in this program. That’s how important we feel like it is. And so our expenses are cut a great deal right there, but it’s still expensive to be on the radio.
We have some stations, Mongolia cares our TV program for free, the station in Honduras, broadcast us for free, and we have some that do it for free, but many of them it’s cost a great deal of money. And we are on the air because of people like you who say, wow, this ministry has blessed me. I I want to see it continue. I would like to be a part and invest in seeing that the gospel goes out. You know God is going to reward you greatly for that.
That’s really called laying up treasures in heaven. If you want, you can mail a gift to Bibleline and also you can give a gift by a credit card over the phone. If you call our operators, they’ll be happy to send you an envelope with our address on it or take your gift by a credit card over the phone. God bless you and thank you in advance. Really, you are my heroes who pray for it and give the Bible and you allow us to be able to be your voice and get this message out.
We’re about ready to do the second half hour of Bible and so stay tuned. If you don’t get it on your station, go to the internet. Line, continue in your area. You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right, we’re back for that break and this is my violin. And again, it’s wonderful to be able to be with you. We’re coming to you from Tampa, Florida, from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church, where I am the pastor.
And we would love to have you join us as often as you can. Tune us in on the radio or check us out. I talked to a fellow yesterday. He said, you know, my routine is every evening, after dinner. I get at my computer about 8.30 and I log on and listen to the Bibleline program. Sometimes he catches parts of it during the day while he’s working. But he says, I can sit back and enjoy the full hour of Bibleline.
and that’s the way I like to enjoy my evening. Isn’t that wonderful? We have a lot of people that tell us they do that and so at your pleasure, at your convenience, at whatever time a day works for you, you can go to Bibleline ministries.org or .com and click on that spinning globe or the TV set and be connected to our radio program that is live at the time if you’re listening when we go live or in archive. You can listen to it as often as you like.
God bless you. All right. We’re going to go to the phone lines. We have Claude in Toronto, Canada, calling in and Claude. Thanks for calling in from our neighbor country there, Canada to the north. Thank you. How can we help you? I have a confusing question here about, We hear about going to heaven and we hear about the millennium spending a thousand years on earth, time that we spend in heaven because then it says that Jesus comes up for the thousand years and then the new Jerusalem comes down from heaven.
Do we come down from heaven with the new Jerusalem? What time do we spend in heaven? I’ll hang up there and listen to you, Aaron. Alright, thank you Claude, that’s calling in from Toronto, Canada. The answer is that when you trust the Lord at the moment of death or at the moment of the rapture, from that point on your affair will be with the Lord. Wherever Jesus is, that’s where you’re going to be. I think that’s important to know.
Second Corinthians 5, 8 says absent from the body, present with the Lord. So wherever the Lord is present, that’s where you’re going to be present. to be with him. That’s the exciting part. During the millennium, we’ll come back in our glorified bodies and help Christ rule and reign. During eternity, we will live in the New Jerusalem and Christ will live there with us. So, obviously, heaven will be relocated in a sense because the New Jerusalem will be God’s house or home along with us.
And will get a chance to enjoy the new earth that he will create. Apparently, the New Jerusalem so large as it is described to be will orbit the new earth and the gates will be open day and night and I think we’ll be able to go down to the earth and stroll along some beach or maybe climb some mountain or just enjoy the wonderful beauty of the earth that God will create for our enjoyment. But our home will actually be the New Jerusalem.
And we’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. But that’s where we’re going to live. That’s where our mansion is. When Christ spoke about a mansion in heaven in John 14, He’s talking about that New Jerusalem. And that’s where we’re going to live. We have Ben waiting patiently on the line from Zephyr Hills, Florida. And Ben, Welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Year. Yes, hello, is this Dr. Hank? Yes, it is. Well, hello, great. Thank you for taking my call.
I really appreciate it. I wanted to let you know and let your listeners know. Your website is great. I’ve gotten a couple of CDs from your ministry on eternal security and tongues. And I’ve also been to your church a couple of times. Well, wonderful. over in Tampa. So anyway, it was a great experience for me and I’m also continuing to plug into your side and your teaching. So I have a question, actually I have a dozen, but I’m only going to give you one or two, okay?
That’s fine. Okay. Concerning tongues, I have… I believe everything that I’ve heard on your teaching, on your CD, but I still have a couple of issues that make it difficult for me to share with others. And if you could, and I don’t have my Bible in front of me, please forgive me for that. But Paul said in one of his letters to the Corinthians, he said, if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
And a lot of the charismatic Pentecostal people say that tongues is a private prayer language, and that verse seems to agree with that. And also Paul said if I speak with tongue, or he said I speak with tongues more than you all. And then he said even when you give thanks, if you do it in tongues, you give things well. And so I just have a little challenge there as far as how to share with other people about tongues being what is demonstrated today, a false gift.
Can you please help me with that? Absolutely, no problem at all. In 1 Corinthians 14, where you are referring there, it says, what is it then? In verse 15, I will pray with the Spirit and also pray with the understanding also. It says, I’ll sing with the Spirit and I’ll also sing with the understanding also. And here’s the answer. It’s in verse 16. Else, when thou shalt bless with the Spirit, how shall he that occupy the room of the unlearned say amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he, and here’s the last part.
He doesn’t understand what you’re saying. He doesn’t understand what you’re saying. So what it’s talking about here is that your understanding is unfruitful to the hearer because nobody’s able to understand the language in which you’re praying in or singing in or giving thanks in. Unless you speak in the language of the hearer, then they won’t notice amen at the end of your prayer. won’t have a clue as to what you say. Okay, may I interrupt you for a moment please?
Okay, but it does not say at that point that the person was wrong in doing it. It says not to do it with others there. I guess I’m paraphrasing, but it doesn’t say he was wrong in doing that. He just said when there’s others there, they’re not going to be edified. You see, but that was when the real gift was still operative. gift ceased and what is being done today is not a gift that can be interpreted or communicate to a lost person because it’s gibberish.
So the when the real gift was in and first granddance was one of the earliest letters and by the end of the first century, tongues and ceased like it said it would and first granddance thirteen eight through ten. So The tongues was still going on when Paul wrote this and he tells them that they needed to be using that gift to communicate to the lost or to other believers that they were speaking to. In verse 9 it says, except you speak by the tongue words easy to be understood.
How shall it be known when it is spoken? You just waste your hot air. Is it fair to say then that even in that day there were abuses going on folks who were not exercising even the real gift that’s exactly right they were missing something that’s happening exactly they were misusing the real gift and poll uh… goes on to say that although he spoke in many different languages when he was speaking in the church at current he would rather just speak five words in greek that they would understand and ten thousand words in a language that was not understood by them and uh…
and uh… and i tell people you know i can say a lot five words i can say trust christ and be safe five words and uh… i’d rather say that the one of my favorite phrases by the way and then and then uh… i’m sorry to take your time uh… uh… i appreciate your answer that that helps clear that up for me i i think i kind of have that but uh… i want to be here from you uh…
could i ask you a question very quickly for my son sure uh… my friend wanted to know uh… how whales got on the arc uh… well they didn’t have to get on the arc because they breathe air and they could well survive through the flood That’s what I told him. I was right. I think I was. Oh, I think I was very good. And so no, they didn’t have to put a whale on the arc. Well, Pastor Hank, thank you so much for taking my call.
And you’ve cleared that up for me. I have a bunch of other questions. I’m sure I’ll call again. And, and I wanted to tell you, I’ll buy you the steak dinner. I know you’ve offered that to folks who could who could demonstrate the real gift of tongues, even at the mall. But I’ll buy you that stegdinner. I’d love to sit with you sometime. Maybe I could give you a call. That’d be great. Thank you, Ben. I’d love to do it.
Thank you, sir. Take care. That was Ben in Zephyr Hills, Florida. And the rule gift of tongues is gone. I have never met yet anybody that has the genuine gift. What they’re doing is a gibberish that is done by all the world religions. religions, the people in Buddhism do it, the people in Islam do it, the people of the jungle tribes in South America, Africa, Central America do it. It’s done by the Australian Aborigine, it’s done by the Eskimos, it’s done all over the world.
The gibberish is not The Mormons do it. They’re not even close to being Christians. The Mormons, by their own admission, if you study Mormonism, are aliens. They claim they came from the planet Cola. That’s right, Cola. And they migrated here to Earth. And so the Mormons are aliens. They’re from outer space. Those are the people that you don’t even realize that have kind of been kind of infested the earth here from outer space. That’s what they say. Of course, they’re totally confused and that message didn’t come from God.
We have Martha on the phone from Breakington, Florida. Martha, welcome to Bibleline. Good morning, Dr. Hank. During your break on the radio, there was a little spot by, I think it was Woodrow Crow, He was talking about the statement, Faith Without Works is Dead. He repeated that several times and I just thought that, hey, a good explanation again by you of what that statement is referring to would help us all. Thank you so much and I didn’t get to hear that because most of our stations care is the full hour.
And so when we go off and you’re hearing commercials here in Bradenton, we’re still on the air. Anyway, Faith Without Works is dead. It’s talking about the Christian. If he is to have reward in heaven, has to have works. And our works are the means by which we can display the life of our soul. and we can communicate to someone else. Verse 26 of James 2 is the key verse, I think, in getting that concept in your head. It says, as the body without the Spirit is dead, in the same way faith without works is dead.
In other words, if I were to drop dead right now, Martha, you can come up to my body and touch me, and I wouldn’t move. You could tickle me, and I wouldn’t laugh. You could take my vital signs, and I would have none, you could listen for a pulse or heartbeat. There would be none. I couldn’t display any signs of life to you, but yet I’d still be very much alive. I have eternal life. I’m going to live beyond the experience of physical death, and according to the Bible, I’ll be absent from the body, present with the Lord, and I’m going to get a new body in heaven.
So I need my body. In the same way, it says faith though it works is dead. In other words, if I don’t have any works, I can’t display the life of my faith anymore that if I don’t have my body, I can’t display the life of my soul. So in other words, it becomes vital if I’m going to impact somebody else. If you are going to know that I’m alive, you see me move, you can hear me talk and I can obviously demonstrate because my body is active that I’m alive, that I’m in the body and my soul is present here in the body.
But when I die, I’m absent the body and I’m present with the Lord, 2nd Corinthians 5-8. In the same way, faith that works is dead. So if you try to say that if you don’t have any work, you have a dead faith every day, you don’t have a faith that all, that’s not true. Because if I don’t I have my body. I still have life, but I don’t have my body to display that life. So if you don’t have work, you simply have no vehicle to display your faith.
So by what James is talking about, you and I need in order to have profit, which is rewards in heaven, we need to have works. And if we don’t have any works, then we’re going to find that we will not escape the consequences of the judgment seat of Christ, there will be sorrow, there will be tears, there will be regret, there will be ashamed ness, and so on, and loss of reward as a result of us not living for Christ while we are here.
But Faith Without Works is not talking about salvation. James is talking to believers, he says, beginning in verse 1, my brethren, and all the way throughout the book, he says, My brother and my brother and my brother including Chapter 2, verse 14, what does it profit my brethren? He’s talking to believers. Not about how to be saved, but how to have rewards when you stand before the Lord one day. Martha, thank you so much for that call and I hope it did help.
Sometimes Bible teachers get James totally wrong. other times they just confuse us because they don’t have a good way of explaining what it’s saying but I think it’s very clear and I have an article I’ve written on that called Faith Without Works and we’ll send it to you free if you call it and ask for that. We have Nancy waiting in Bradenton, Florida and Nancy, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hello Dr. Hank. Hi. Hi. I know you know that in Revelation 22-19 it says you know that you can’t take away the words from the book of prophecy meaning I believe.
Yeah I think it applies to the whole Bible. Yeah well I was wondering when Martin Luther and whoever else did they not leave out part of the Bible like Maccabees? No, in fact, they didn’t. That was never a part of the Bible. The Catholic Church added some books at the Council of Trent in 1554, but they never were a part of the Bible. If they had been a part of Scripture, they should have been added when they were written, because that is the standard for how each book was added.
When Moses wrote, he was accepted as God’s prophet, his words were accepted as God’s words, and they were immediately accepted as Scripture. They were placed in the ark of the covenant, which is where they kept the Scriptures in the Old Testament times. In each successive prophet, their writings were accepted immediately as being Scripture. Even in the New Testament, the same thing was true. Paul writes to the people at 1 Thessalonians 2, 13, and he says, you received my words as the words of God as they are indeed in truth.
So they accepted his words and Peter’s words and so on and they were accepted. Those books were accepted as scripture right when they happened. But Maccabees was written in those silent years between the closing of the Old Testament and the beginning of the new. It was about 500 silent years. They were just histories, but 2000 years late the Catholic Church decided to add them. But it doesn’t really make you nervous because they don’t change any doctrine for us. But if they were really scripture, they should have been accepted from God at that time.
But they weren’t written by, you see, a prophet. God had withdrawn the prophets and they were just histories. And they were not written by authentic spokespersons for God. Is it not true? I think it’s in Maccabees. Well, it’s not purgatory, but the count just tries to make an illusion there to that because they really have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to get some proof of purgatory. There is no purgatory. So there is no reference to it. In fact, the whole doctrine is so foreign to the scripture because the Bible says that the only pay for sin is death which ultimately means hell.
And so to try to pay for sin after you die would mean you’d have to go to hell. There would not be a place where you could work off your sins. works won’t pay for sins, so to try to work them off after you die’s contrary to Scripture. If there is a purgatory, it’s Calvary, and I love the word it’s used there in Hebrews 1, 3, where it says Christ by Himself purged our sins at the cross, and then He sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.
So Christ purged our sins at the cross, and He paid for all of them past, present, and future. So there’s no future place where we have sins hanging out that we have to And to the… You have to go on a phone. I’m just gonna go back and turn that camera on. Okay. So, now, let’s go. So, now, let’s just do a little bit of this. Okay. So, now, let’s go back and show it to the camera. So, now, let’s just go back and show it to the camera.
Okay, so, let’s go back and see what’s going on here. Excuse me, pay for after we die. That’s foreign to scripture altogether and there is no purgatory, no limbo. All those are man-in-vented doctrines that can’t be supported. So they really have to leap outside the accepted scriptures of 39 books of the Old Testament, 27 of the new to try to prove it, but there is no proof anywhere. Okay. Thank you very much, Dr. Hank. You’re very welcome. And you know it is amazing how many people are there?
people try to defend these doctrines, but purgatory is a man-made teaching. I went to, I’ve been to Rome many times, and I’ve been to the Sistine Chapel many times. And our guide told a story there when you see the final judgment painted by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel. What an incredible fellow he was. But apparently the Pope’s secretary just was absolutely pressing Michelangelo to speed the work up and give him a hard time and they didn’t get along at all.
So one day when the Pope’s secretary, and this is a true story, came in and was giving Michelangelo a hard time, he noticed in hell that there was his face among those that were crying out in the flames of hell. And he was irate, he was upset, and he runs back to the pope, and he tells the pope to have Michelangelo, you know, take him out of hell. And the pope said, well, if he had been placed in purgatory, he could have done something about it, but because Michelangelo put him in hell he couldn’t.
Anyway, it’s kind of humorous, but There is no purgatory and once you die, it’s too late. There is no such thing in the Bible where after you die, you can work off sins and ultimately get to heaven. The Bible teaches that once you die, you either go to heaven or you go to hell. There is no other choices or alternative solutions for you.
We’re going to Jerry in Plant City and Jerry welcome to Bibleline. Yes, I was wanting you to expand on the law or office of deacons and elders in why it is scripturally sound that the woman does not do being the role of pastor. I greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot. I’ll be happy to do that. There are two passages that talk about the requirements for elders and deacons. And that’s in 1 Timothy chapter 3 and in Titus chapter 1.
You’ll notice that they’re all men and that they are to be husbands of one wife and so on. And so on. There’s about 20 requirements laid out there that they just shouldn’t be anyone, but they They need to be believers, they need to be male, they need to be married, and they need to be trustworthy and have not been elected because as a brand new believer there to be observed for a period of time, it says that we’re not too electinamous into those positions.
But also, 1 Timothy 2, verses 11 through the end, says, I suffered not a woman to teach. Now the word suffer there means to allow, and it says that they are not to be allowed to teach. That word teach is different than the word teach used in other places, and it has to do with the teaching of the Word of God. So they were not to be the teachers, the spiritual leaders, and it says also in that verse, nor do you serve authority over the men, but to be in silence.
That’s pretty plain. They were to be in silence and not to be the spokesperson for God in the church. And then it gives two reasons why, first for order, that Adam was created first and then Eve. So if Eve were created first, perhaps women would have had that responsibility, but God gave it to man, not woman. We find the second reason was because it says Adam was not deceived in the transgression, but Eve was. So apparently women in spiritual matters are much more likely to be deceived than men.
Men are more factual in the way they They think women are more emotional and many of the cults have been started by women and the Bible warns about women and listening to what they come up with because they… They think emotionally. That doesn’t mean women are not smart, that they’re not beautiful and not wonderful. They’re very capable, but they think sometimes with their heart or their emotions. And that creates a problem. For example, Mary Baker Eddy, who founded Christian Science, didn’t believe that there could be a hell because she said I can’t accept a God who would cast people into a lake of fire.
So she wrote off hell as not being true. And so she’s thinking by her emotions. Her disbelief will not put out the flames of hell. I’m Dr. Anglin Sturman.
