We thank you for joining us here today, and we trust that you have your Bible handy.
As we hope that you’ve heard by now, Bibleline has undergone some format changes. As we continue Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s ministry of spreading the gospel across the world, Bibleline is now featuring a combination of teachings from Dr. Lindstrom as well as answers to questions about the Bible. This format is one that Dr. Lindstrom had previously wanted to use in other ministry areas, so we feel comfortable that he would have approved of these changes. As we continue to refine Bible Lines format over the coming weeks and months, we ask for your prayers and your patience.
Please tell your friends and family about Bibleline. If Bibleline isn’t being broadcast in their area, then please ask them to visit our website at BibleLineMinistries.org. As you listen to future Bibleline programs and detail teachings from the Word of God that will be featured, perhaps you could help lead someone to Christ through the lessons being taught. In the current teaching series, we have been covering a variety of topics related to the events leading up to and surrounding the resurrection of Jesus.
So far we’ve learned about the wages of sin, everlasting life, the triumphant entry, and Palm Sunday. This week we will cover topics such as the Passover, the crucifixion and burial of Jesus, and of course the resurrection of Jesus. If you’d like to hear Dr. Lindstrom’s entire series on the resurrection, please call our Resource Center at 1-800-576-3771. And now please join us as we hear Dr. Lynch from teaching on the burial of Christ. Let’s open our Bibles. We’re turning to John’s Gospel, chapter 19, verse 38, page 1143.
Christ died. The Roman soldier pierced his side. Blood and water poured forth. And he was obviously dead. Verse 38 of John 19. And after this Joseph of Armathea, being a disciple of Jesus but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore and took the body of Jesus. And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night and brought a mixture of Muran aloes, about a hundred pound weight.
Then they took the body of Jesus and wound it in linen clothes with the spices as the manner of the Jews is to bury. Here we have the Bible’s account about how Christ was buried. And you’ll notice that they took linen strips and wrapped him, wound him, it says, wound him, wound him in these linen strips, it would have been like a mummy. It would have been with the claws soaked in the mern aloe mixture. And they tell us that that type of a mixture would finally set up like concrete.
And so here Christ would be enclosed in like a cocoon in his burial Let’s assume that Christ weighed about 200 pounds. We don’t know how large Christ was, but let’s say he weighed 200 pounds. Let’s say they used 40 pounds of linen strips to wrap his body. And then we know here from the scriptures that they had 100 pounds of Murun alos. If you add up 200 plus 40 plus 100, that’s 340 pounds when you get all done when they finish wrapping the body of Christ.
This really lets us know that the sprout of Turin could really not be accurate, because the sprout of Turin is just one single cloth, and they say that they laid Christ’s body on that cloth, and then the image was transferred to the The drought of Turin could really not be accurate because the drought of Turin is just one single cloth and they say that they laid Christ’s body on that cloth and then the image was transferred. On to that clause.
It doesn’t match the Bible description at all, does it? Here it says, they took Lind and Strips and they wound his body. They wound it. You can just get a visual picture that they would take the strips and cover his body. Then they would smear this Murunalo all over those claws and soak the new claws and then wrap it again. Then again spread more Murunalos and then wrap it again and so on. And so this was layered and Murunalos was soaking the claws and when it all dried it set up like concrete.
And so for Christ to really come out of that would have been impossible for just an ordinary human being because he would have been in like in a concrete vault wrapped up in this wrapping. For men to deliver him from that wrapping they would have probably had to take hammer and chisel and chisel it apart and break it apart and and then extricate his body from the burial wrappings. What is interesting is that so many claim the sprout of Turin was the burial cloth.
The carbon dating just takes it back to the 1300s. They just couldn’t believe that the carbon dating wouldn’t take it back any further, but it’s not any older than that. During the 1300s, the Roman Catholic Church in particular was big into relics. They would pull out all their relics, pieces of the cross, and all kinds of other paraphernalia that they would pull out as evidence of Christ’s burial. But also, what is very interesting, a magazine that doesn’t sound like a good magazine for a pastor to subscribe to, it’s called Bar.
Now Bar stands for Biblical Archaeological Review. That might make you feel a little bit better. But it’s beautiful colors, lots of archaeological articles, and is a well-respected magazine a few years ago. They came out with an article on the Shroud of Turin. And they said that they had paid a forensic scientist to take a look at the Shroud, and he said after examining the cloth carefully, there was no evidence, no evidence of blood anywhere on the Shroud. blood. Interesting, isn’t it?
Also, the images, they found paint pigments that matched that time period when they had all these relics that they would bring out to show people. But what was most damaging, the article pointed out that Pope Clement at that time in 1359 allowed them to display this shroud, but he said that in order for them to display it, there would have to be a pronouncement made by a priest, loud and clear that this was not the burial cloth of Christ, but merely a representation.
Not all the silence, everybody. It would seem if Pope Clement himself knew it wasn’t was it real? Interesting. But if we go to the Bible record, obviously it couldn’t be because it doesn’t match up. There is no single cloth where Christ’s body was laid. Yet if you go to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Israel, the Roman Catholic side of the crucifixion of Christ, which is in the wrong place, it couldn’t be the place because the Bible says Christ was crucified outside the city walls.
The church of the Lussepica was within the city walls back in the time of Christ. The Bible also tells us that Christ was crucified northward before the Lord and only that hill called Calvary, that weathered hill that still to this hour has the image worn in its surface of a skull would meet the description and that hill to this day is called Skull Hill and you can see an image of a skull weathered in the side of the hill.
It’s directly north. It’s the highest most, northernmost part of the mountain called Mariah. Now Mariah was the mountain where God told Abraham to go and take his son Isaac and slay him. And there you have beautiful picture of Abraham in acting out the gospel and slaying his only son, a picture of God slaying his only son at the cross. You have the three days and three nights in the story because when Abraham set off it took him three days and three nights to get to the site.
In the mind of Abraham he already had made the decision to slay his son so really when he gets his son back three days and three nights later, it’s a picture of the resurrection because here his son that he is slain in his mind is now given back to him. And so there’s the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Back in Genesis, chapter 22 of the Bible. Wow. And we see the substitutionary death of Christ as all of a sudden his Abraham is ready to slay his son.
God halts him and they’re caught in the thicket is a male lamb or lamb. And he says, offer up the lamb in the stead of your son. A picture of someone else dying so that you and I might live. a picture how that another sacrifice was provided so Isaac could live. And so Jesus became the lamb that was taking your place in mind so that we might live by trusting him as our Savior. Well, if you read Genesis 22-16 it says, what happened there was the prophecy of what would happen in the future.
Isn’t that amazing? And there you have one of the divine combinations of God’s name, Yahweh or Jehovah. There is Jehovah Jaira, which really means the Lord would provide. But when you read Genesis 22, He provided the greatest gift in all the world. God provided a sacrifice, a lamb, and it’s a picture of Christ that God would provide the lamb that would die at Calvary. Now if you go to Jerusalem and you see Moriah, there’s the temple mount, but if you go north, the highest most part of Moriah, the very mountain upon which Abraham offered up his son Isaac, is Calvary.
Amazing. And so Jesus, according to the Old Testament, that the sacrifice was to be offered northward before the Lord, Jesus is offered at the highest most, northern most, part of Mount Moriah. So vedicos 111 says they offered the sacrifices northward before the Lord. And so I believe truly the only spot that Christ could have been crucified is that northern most part of Moriah. Thanks for joining us today. We hope that you’re enjoying today’s teaching on the resurrection. You are listening to Bibleline with your host, Dr.

Now, please join us for a segment featuring Dr. Lynch from answering questions from previous callers. We’re going to Darnell in And Darnell is in St. Petersburg Darnell. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hey, how you doing? Dr. Hank good I have a friend. I’m trying to witness to about Christ and he came over with a question about the Easter Bunny.
What did Easter Bunny come for? I told him that the Easter thing was a pagan and fail from a pagan belief that I couldn’t go into this and that. We have a book called Two Babylons here in our Resource Center that really goes into that history, but it has to do with Astroth and Bail, and you’ll find that name, if you have a concord you’ll find it throughout the Old Testament, and if you take off the last three letters it’s just Ash-tar, the English form is Easter, and that’s the name of the mother bail.
She was a sex goddess and the bunny rabbits and the eggs all speak of sex fertility, rapid reproduction, and that’s where it came from. It has nothing to do with Jesus at all. So that’s got went into Christianity as the celebration of Astroth and bail has continued. But when Constantine in the fourth century declared that the world be all Christian, the pagan celebration didn’t go away, but all of a sudden, the astrothe became merry. And bail became Jesus. And so you really have to ask sometimes, are you being presented the same ancient Babylonian system of the worship of a mother and her child and known in the Bible in the Old Testament as Astroth and bail?
Or do you have the real Mary and the real Jesus? You know, Astroth was called the queen of heaven. Look at how that adaptation has taken place where many teach that Mary is the queen of heaven. That’s all paganism. And that’s not true. That’s not really the Mary of the Bible. And so unfortunately, a lot of people accepting a Mary is not the Mary of Scriptures, and even a Jesus that’s not the Jesus of the Bible. And this is where Satan’s been really clever to bring us a counterfeit that slides right in and looks almost like the real thing.
So we gotta be able to read our Bibles carefully, and the book, Two Babylons, will really help expose that to you. okay there all right that i have i remember so i i’ll go on a tell them right now and one of the where they need to put anything you call for well again that was that having to do with that asked about as a sex goddess uh… the bunnies book about sex and rapid reproduction you know he uh…
that is alright rapids re-have a little babies real quickly and i had okay all right thank you all of that thank you don’t know all right And so that’s really what that’s all about. And I don’t have a problem with people having bunny rabbits or eggs or whatever, but I think we need to recognize the false origin. And really this holiday should have been only about Jesus. It’s all about him. Well, I’m gonna go to Anne in St. Petersburg and she has an unfair question.
So I’ll get this one. First Corinthians 15, 35 through 58. What will our bodies be like? Well, there it says they will be uniquely individual. So everybody will be different, one from another. But we also, apparently, will be recognizable because our bodies will be like Christ’s body, and we know when He came back from the dead they recognized Him, and so will be recognizable. We also know that it will be flesh, but not necessarily have blood in our bodies.
We know that Christ, when He came back from the dead, Luke 24, said that, It touched me and handled me, for a spirit that does not have flesh and bones as you see me have. Normally you would have the expression flesh and blood, but all of Christ’s blood poured out upon the ground as he died and shed that blood to pay for our sins. So he talks about his resurrection body being flesh and bones, but not flesh and blood.
So we assume that we won’t need blood in our new resurrection bodies. We’ll have to wait and see. But on and on we know that Christ in His resurrection body could pass right through a locked door or through a closed wall into a room that is secured and Christ appeared in that upper room after the resurrection and He went right through a locked door or through the wall. And so we’ll be able to do that. We’ll also be able to travel about Christ.
Went to heaven and came back several times I believe they’re right after the resurrection and that will be not an issue either. I think we’ll travel through space. In fact, at the Rapture, we’re going to go up through space without a rocket or a spaceship. The only way that’s possible is to have our new bodies. We find that at the resurrection or at the Rapture, when we get our resurrection bodies, we’ll be transformed all the way up. Then we’ll wind up meeting Christ in the air and going on to heaven.
Then coming back and re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere as Christ comes back and all of is powered all of his glory, re-enders the earth’s atmosphere and comes back and sets up a kingdom here where he’s king of kings and lord of lords and rules over the whole earth. So Anna tells you a little bit, but you will have a recognizable body and it will be in the prime of life. Christ was 33 years of age, so I believe that appearance will all be about 33 years of age.
You will not appear old if you’re older or nor will you appear younger if you’re younger. will have a body about 33 years of age in appearance. We’re going to go to Ann and this is my Emmy for it. Welcome to Bibleline thank you. Good morning. I listen to you every morning and I wanted to ask you, would you please speak on Luke 23 verse 46 where he says Father in design hands, I commend my spirit. I’m going to hang up and listen why you asked me.
Okay. This is while Jesus is on the cross. What a beautiful chapter Luke 23 is. He just had told the dying thief in verse 23, today thou shall be with me in paradise. But we find that Jesus… He was fully in control even on the cross. We find in verse 47, he yields up his spirit and gives up his life and dies. In chapter 10 of John, John Schoswell tells us a quote from Jesus where Jesus said he had the power to lay down his life and he had the power to take it up again.
So we find here, he says, Father, into thy hands I command my spirit. and having said thus, he gave up the Spirit. So you and I don’t have the power to lay our life down at will, but Jesus, if he had not laid down his life, could have remained alive even though he was crucified. But Jesus Christ laid down his life. He gave it up in order to pay for our sins. Thank you, Anna. I hope that helps, but that should be the answer you’re looking for.
We have Irma in Pimbroke, Pines, Florida, and that’s down in South Florida near Hollywood in Fort Lauderdale. And welcome, Irma, to the Bible and Program. Thank you for taking my call, fast, Father Lishram. Yes. What I want to know is what is wrong with Lent, if Lent is at time designated by the Church, at time of reflection, to see it, to, if anything in your life is preventing you from being close to God and through fasting, arms given and prayers, you can come close to God, especially at a time of resurrection.
What is wrong with that? Well, first of all, it’s totally pagan. There’s no such thing as Lent in your Bible. Nowhere does the Bible ever tell us to observe Lent? And Lent was observed long before Christ ever came and was an observance related to Baal worship and to fast and pray so that he might be resurrected from the dead. The counterfeit of Christianity is the resurrection of Baal from the dead and the celebration of his mother getting her son back which is what Easter is all about.
Obviously we are not pagans, we are Christians and if you study your Bible we are never told to observe that. Unfortunately, the Roman Catholic Church teaches, if you read the Roman Catholic Encyclopedia, that it is a means of earning grace and earning your way to heaven, which is totally false also. The whole system is wrong. And of course, Catholics are told to observe Ash Wednesday. There’s no such thing in the Bible. They’re told to observe not eating meat on Friday during Lent, which is not in the Bible.
In fact, the Bible says to prevent people from eating meat is a doctrine of demons. If you read 1 Timothy chapter 4, it says that in the last days people would be deceived with doctrines coming from demons. And one of those doctrines is to forbid to marry, which the Catholics forbid the nuns and the priests from getting married, which is a doctrine of demons. Obviously they have paid a price for for that, as you see all of the priests that have been caught with having sex with young children and pedophilia being practiced by the church because they wouldn’t allow their priests to get married.
And also the fact that to forbid people to eat meat according to 1 Timothy chapter 4 verse 3 is a doctrine of demons. So this is just the whole thing is pagan and not from God but from Satan and the ramifications of the teaching is blasphemous and is actually contrary to the Bible. So Irma, I hope that answers your question. We hope that you are learning with us as we listen to this question and answer segment featuring Dr. Hank Lindstrom and previous Bibleline callers.

Well, this is Bible. Adam Dr redund. England’s where we’reetary going to get into the Bible for a few minutes. Repentance continually comes up. And I guess it will just not go away. And the reason why is that the Greek word normally translated repentance in the New Testament was wrongly translated into the English word repent. It does not mean the same. And as a result, we have had a untold confusion ever since. The word repent, if you look it up in your dictionary, it means sorrow for sin or turning from sin.
But the Greek word doesn’t mean that at all. The Greek word is meta noia. If you’ll write that down, meta, M-E-T-A, and then noia, N-O-I-A, meta means change, noia means mind, and together it means a change of mind. That’s all that repentance is. In order to be saved, yes, you must repent, but it means to change your mind. Dr. Schofield in the Schofield Reference Bible, which I use, in 1909, put a footnote in there on page 1174 in Acts 17, saying that saving faith includes and implies that change of mind, which is called repentance.
In other words, when you trust Jesus Christ as Savior, you change your mind in the process and therefore you have repented. It does not mean the turn from sin or it does not mean sorrow for sin. That would add works to the plan of salvation. And the Bible is quite clear that salvation is not of yourself. It is not of works. It’s through the person Romans 4, 5 says, that does not work, but would trust in Jesus Christ who justifies the ungodly, his faith in Christ is counted for righteousness.
But the devil must jump up and down with joy every time it is misused because this confuses people. And I’m amazed, for example, in the new living translation. did that, whenever the word repent would occur in the text, they took, it must be, a word processor and just slipped in there, turn from your sin, turn from your sin, apparently they don’t have a clue as to what the Greek word means and they put in this wrong meaning turn from sin.
These modern translations oftentimes cause us a great deal of problems because they don’t do the research, they don’t do the homework, and they lead us away from the truth. But you can look up, and I’m not making this up, and it’s not something original with me, Dr. Schofield taught this a hundred years ago in the Schofield Reference Bible. You can look up in a concordance, the Greek word metanoia, and see that it means a change of mind. Let me just say this.
If you understand this next phrase that I’m going to give out, understand the doctrine of repentance. You can repent without believing, but you cannot repent without you can… Now I got myself confused. You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. In other words, you can change your mind about Christ, about salvation, about any number of things, and yet not believe or trust Christ as your Savior. But you cannot trust Christ without having changed your mind in the process.
So in other words, when you do believe you have changed your mind from what have you previously trusting in the trusting in Christ and therefore you have repented. If you read the book of Acts almost in every case it’s a change of mind about who is Jesus Christ. When Peter preached on Pentecost he told the religious leaders that they had crucified the Lord of glory, that this was actually, God who came and took on human flesh. He was the Messiah of Israel.
Now the Jews killed Christ because they thought he was an imposter, a fraud, a counterfeit, a charlatan, a deceiver. And so Peter is saying, you need to change your mind. He’s back. He’s alive. He has demonstrated that he is indeed the Messiah of Israel. When they heard that message, they were pricked in their hearts. The Bible says in Acts 2, 37, and they said, what should we do? And Peter says in verse 38 of Acts 2, repent. Of course, the Greek word was metanoia, and it means change your mind.
I’m Dr. Englund Striman. This is Bibleline. Would you like to help Bibleline continue in your’,” you can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. And now back to Bibleline. Welcome back from the break. This is Tom Perry for Bibleline Ministries. We hope that you are learning with us as we listen to questions from previous Bibleline callers and answers from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Have you been able to join us for Dr. Lindstrom’s teaching series on the resurrection of Jesus?
This series covers a variety of topics related to the events leading up to and so the resurrection of Jesus and includes topics such as The Wages of Sin, Everlasting Life, The Triumphant Entry, Palm Sunday, The Passover, The Crucifixion and Burial of Jesus and of course the resurrection of Jesus. If you have missed any of the teachings in this series, please call our Resource Center at 1-800-576-3771. This is the final week for the series on the Resurrection of Jesus. After the conclusion of this teaching series, we will begin a new series on the Book of Daniel.
Now, please join us as we return to our question and answer segment and then hear more Bible teaching from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. we’re going to go now to sera so the florida and talk to antony who’s patiently waiting on the line uh… and he welcomed a bible and you’re on the air hey how you doing hi uh… i decided not so much a question i guess i’m like very you know i’ve been listening for a while you know get interested in the film so basically the guy up there was the guy on the cross with jesus next to him and because he just believed he was accepted into having said today you’ll be with me and paradise that’s exactly right So, and I noticed that’s the basic doctrine that you’re preaching because I was born again in 2004.
You know, and I guess the definition, I guess I say I accepted it in my heart, but I know I just came out to me just saying, yes, Jesus is God. It was unmistakable at that time in my life. I could see it clearly all of a sudden. around church and somebody who invited me to church. But I guess I couldn’t really understand the Bible until I believed it. Which is like I accepted it as truth. And I learned more and more new things all the time.
My question is I guess there was something in Philippians I was reading that Paul more more or less, it was almost a path to see though, to say that your actions don’t matter, and could you just elaborate on that? Because I tend to find myself wanting to be more obedient, but also struggling with, say, the Mormon, the Jehovah Witness, and cult kind of things, because I keep telling them, well, it’s not about work. You got to accept Christ, you got to be born again, and it’s not of this world.
I mean, before I go on and on about it, I mean, maybe you could elaborate on why our actions and a response to grace uh… it important and hang up but the answer that i’d be happy to do that anything uh… afterwards a but we see got one says to be witnesses he wants us to be lights and effect one of the verses of people bring up and and misunderstand is it says it was twelve of flippians to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling and uh…
it doesn’t say work for but it says work out which means that we are to display the salvation that we have received by faith. It says in verse 13 of chapter 2, for it is God which worked in you both the will and the do of his good pleasure. So we are to obviously display the salvation that we have received and God dwells in us and we are to let it be seen outwardly. It says here that we should do all things without murmuring and disputing.
There’s 15 that you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation among whom, and here it is, among whom you shine as lights in the world. So we are to be lights, we are to be witnesses, we are to be sharing the truth as you are doing with cults and other people. And it says here the way we do that, the way we become a light is verse 16 holding forth the word of life.
is the Word of God. We share people with people the Word of God, which is the Word of life. It brings life to people that are spiritually dead. When they understand the gospel message and trust Jesus as their Savior, they become saved and they become saved eternally. And So Anthony, yes, after we’re saved, it’s important that we live for Christ, not to be saved, but because we are saved and how that that will bring about blessing and rewards, and obviously we’ll be reaching others with this wonderful message.
Obviously, how can we keep our mouths shut when there are people going to hell who don’t know what we know about salvation through Christ? And if they would only receive that message and trust Christ, they could be assured and know that they’re saved and know they’re going to heaven, and obviously would affect their affect their life and their families and the people that they will encounter throughout their whole life’s journey. So good question and no doubt about it. I believe that every believer ought to be a light, ought to be a witness, ought to be a testimony.
And the way we behave and what we do is how we are able to display that message to the lost about us as we are lights in the dark world that we live in and we become a light by holding forth the word of life, the scriptures, and let people know. know what the Bible have to say. Thank you for that call, Anthony, and we appreciate that. We’re now going to go to Matthew from Spring Hill, Florida, and Matthew.
Welcome to the Bible, and you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank. I have a question. Considering or concerning the promises God made to Israel, the Israel that he speaks of, is it national in nature or ethnic or religious for what? Well, it’s really the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This seed of Israel that is still around to this day has been promised, earthly promises, and that Christ would come back and become their king, and that they would have a, well, they would actually have Christ ruling in Jerusalem over them as their king and over the whole earth as king of kings.
And these promises have never been rescinded. What is interesting is that we have those who believe in replacement theology, that Israel got kicked off the horse. And the church is mounted on the church on the horse now and is going to ride it all the way out to the end. And that’s not true. The church is going to be raptured out and then God will return to Israel and his plan for them. And let me just read to you passage in Jeremiah, which everybody ought to take a look at.
It’s Jeremiah 31, 35. And it says, Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon, and of the stars for light by night, which divide it to sea when the waves there are roar, the Lord of Host is his name. If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever. So in other words, as long as that sun comes up in the morning, you can know that God is not through the seed of Israel and that God has plans to carry out His promises which I think are already in the works here.
The Jewish people are back in the state of Israel. Once the rapture happens, boom, things will change instantly and we’ll be back on Jewish territory and God will use the Jewish people again as His witnesses as He did prior to the church age and that’s why you have 144,000 Jewish men doing the witnessing during the tribulation period and the focus will be Israel and Jerusalem and it’s in the news right now. Obviously Israel is constantly in the news and I think this is all an anticipation of what God is going to do with Israel during the tribulation.
Okay so then after the rapture then is that favor of God extended to all Israelites or only Israelites who have faith in God? Oh they have to trust the Lord of Savior obviously and a lot of Jewish people are going to be slaughtered. There will be another holocaust. The Antichrist is going to come against the Jews and as we mentioned in the first part of the program that a large number will flee to southern Jordan and there be hidden for the last three and a half years of the tribulation.
But according to Bible prophecy two-thirds of the Jews in the state of Israel are going be slaughtered and nine-tenths of the Jews around the world will be slaughtered, but the believing Jews who read the instructions as to what to do will flee and find safety in Petra in southern Jordan. So God will preserve them, but they’re going to go through a very rough time as he purifies them and gets them ready for their king to come back and rule over them.
But the believing Jews will survive. Okay, so that would be considered the remnant then? Yeah, exactly. Okay. And also I have one last question. At the rapture when the dead who are on Christ, or that when the dead who are on Christ shall rise first? Yes. OK. Does that mean that does that win all the church believers get their body, their resurrection body? That is exactly right. OK. Do the saints, the Old Testament saints, get their bodies at that time all the time?
No. Or do they already have them? Nope. They don’t get theirs until the second coming or seven years later. So I’m going to get my resurrection body. seven years ahead of Noah, Daniel, Abraham and all those guys. Okay, and then after the after the rapture is a tribulation and then at the end of the tribulation is that that’s the second coming and is that the beginning of the battle of Armageddon? That’s when Armageddon happens and then Christ goes back and and enters into the war and defeats the nations of this world and takes over the planet.

Now please join us as we continue the Resurrection of Jesus Teaching Series from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Leviticus 111 says they offered the sacrifices northward before the Lord.
And so I believe truly the only spot that Christ could have been crucified is that northern most part of Moriah. And so that meets the description as well. Jesus was prominently displayed for everybody to see on this hill that overlooked the whole city of Jerusalem and there Jesus died for you and for me. And then of Of course, we know that he had to be hurriedly buried. And so they wrapped him and they wound him and they placed him in a rich man’s tomb.
I want to say another word is that the image of Christ on the Shroud of Turin has Jesus with long hair. Therefore I believe it’s wrong again because I believe Jesus had short hair. There are two reasons first Corinthians 11 14 if you want to turn I’m coming back to John’s gospel But into your right first Corinthians page 12 21 first Corinthians 11 verse 14 says does not even nature itself Teach you That if a man have long hair it is a shame into him God determined from the very beginning there was a distinction between the sexes and And women, it’s a glory for them to have long hair.
Notice there’s 15, if a woman had long hair, that’s great. It’s a glory to her for her hair as given her for a covering. But for a man to have long hair as a dipper ballgame, God says it’s a shame. Now, when you think about the time of Christ, everybody was under Rome. Rome. Rome set the clothing and styles and the hair styles and everything else. And if you look at the statues, we don’t have photographs. There were no cameras.
And that’s why there weren’t any photographs. But the statues all show short hair. Think about the Roman Caesar. You can picture his haircut right now, can’t you? Off the ears, off the neck, short little bangs here in the front. I’m sure that they call that in those days the Caesar cut if you were a man in those days You probably can form to what society was doing that seems to be the way it goes If you went to the barber shop the barber sees you coming on and hey come on in Kind of haircut do you want?
Think I’ll take that Caesar cut That was what you’d probably get and everybody did now if Jesus were the only exception the only guy running around with long hair why did they have to pay Judas to betray? Think about it. They could have told the soldiers just go find somebody running around out there with long hair. That’s Jesus, cuff him, mind him. You’ve got him bringing him in. But Judas had to walk right up to Jesus and actually embrace him and kiss him on the cheek to identify him as being the Savior, the Messiah.
Interesting, isn’t it? And so I believe Christ had short hair. I also don’t think he would violate the scripture. Well, some people say he had taken an Azerite vow and the Nazareis didn’t cut their hair. Christ never took an Azerite vow. If he had a Then he could not have touched a dead body. On numerous occasions he touched a dead body. Person taking an Azerite bow could not drink any wine, Christ drank wine. So he certainly was not somebody who was taking an Azerite bow.
He was called an Azerine because he was raised in Nazareth. That’s where Mary and Joseph lived. But Jesus, I think, had short hair. So I think all the paintings, all the depictions you and I see are wrong. In a way, I think Satan wants to do that to Christ because he wants to always take Christ down a notch or two, always wants to portray him as a violator of scripture rather than one who fulfills scripture and one who would shame his father by violating scripture in having the long hair.
I really believe that Jesus had short hair. Let’s look a little further in John chapter 20. They come into the tomb. You’ll notice it says in verse 6 that Simon Peter enters the tomb and it says here he went into the sepulchre. Verse 7 he sees the napkin that was about Christ’s head not lying with the linen clothes but wrapped together in a place by itself. This also sheds some more light for us here today that although the body was wound in the linen strips.
There was a separate cloth that discovered the face. Jesus, apparently when he comes out of the cocoon like a fair, takes the part that covered his face and pulls it neatly and lays it off to the side. Why? Because now they could see inside this cocoon affair and see that his body was not there. But what if this cloth was still covering the head area? They would assume maybe the body was still inside. I think Christ did that deliberately.
He takes that part, pulls it over, sets it over here. They come in, they discover the cocoon of fear that’s empty, the body is gone. And obviously the shroud doesn’t meet that description, does it? That the head was separately on another cloth. And not one great big burial sheet. The Bible record is really wonderful. You know, it’s the problem is that most people don’t read their Bible. Most people don’t know what the Bible has to say. Most people don’t take any time to read it for themselves.
And I was so excited when I got saved and I began to read the Bible and say, wow, I never knew this, I never knew that, I never knew the other thing. Nobody ever explained this to me, how come they didn’t tell me? And it’s amazing today, that’s what’s happening in a lot of churches where you can go. We had a gentleman come in here just a couple of months ago and he said, I learned more in 30 days listening to the Bibleline that I did in my church in 30 years.
What that is is a sad commentary on the churches or at least the church where he attended because if you can go 30 days and Learn more than you did in 30 years a church whatever church it was you were attending is obviously very deficient in teaching the word of God and That’s what happens in most places today And I really believe people do want to know what the Bible has to say and we’re not talking about having no fun and Being dull, will but we’re talking about that a lot of times we miss opportunities to really train and teach Let’s go to John 20 now John 20 what a great verse it kind of like is a summary of the gospel of John and It says in verse 31 of John 20 page 11 44 verse 31 says but these are written that you might believe that
Jesus is the Christ the Son of God and believing you might have life through his name. Not only the purpose of this particular book, the Gospel of John, but it’s the purpose of the Bible. Why did God give us this book? The book is written to reveal his son. The book of Revelation begins by saying in verse 1, the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. That’s what it’s about, revealing who Christ is. This book is God’s Word to tell us about his son that he gave at the cross of Calvary that all that would believe on him would be saved.
Look at the verse again, verse 31 of John 20, these are written that you might believe that word means to trust, to rely upon, to put your confidence in, that you would trust that Jesus is what? The Christ, he’s the Messiah, he’s the Savior. John’s gospel begins that way with Andrew excitedly chasing down his brother Peter and said, we found the Messiah. We found the Messiah. The woman at the wall said, I know the Messiah is coming. Jesus says to her, I that speak unto the em he.
I am the Messiah. He is the Messiah. He’s the Savior. He’s the one the prophets told would come. And here it says, these are written that you might believe or trust that Jesus is the Christ and Messiah, the Son of God, end up believing or trusting you might have life through his name. When you trust Jesus Christ, then you become saved. amazing how many don’t get that right. It’s such a simple message that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that he’s so ever what?
Believe it in him, he should not perish but have ever- last thing in life. If you ever get tired of hearing that, then you need to look at yourself afresh and say why? Because this message is the most important message that you’ve ever heard and the most important message you could share with anyone else. And I would have to say that if you don’t want to hear this message again, that you’re all about yourself, your selfish. You want to have yourself pleased.
You’re not concerned about others coming to know this message. This message ought to bring us to tears when we realize how many people that you and I know that are not saved, that do not understand what you understand, that have never heard this message explained before today. I mean, I think a lot of churches are filled with activity, but they’re not doing anything that really counts for eternity. I think really we need to get focused back where the Bible tells us to be focused and do what God tells us to be doing.
And He says, go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Thanks for listening to Bibleline today. Well, this is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Englund. We’re going to get into the Bible for a few minutes. He has demonstrated that he is indeed the Messiah of Israel. In a way they heard that message. They were pricked in their hearts. The Bible says in Acts 2, 37, and they said, what should we do? And Peter says in verse 38 of Acts 2, repent. Of course the Greek word was metanoia, and it means change your mind. You need to change your mind.
You rejected the true Messiah of Israel. What’s so interesting to me is that Israel has had about 30 Messiahs appear on the scene down through time. All claiming to be the Messiah. They have accepted 29 of them and the one that was the true Messiah, they rejected. Did you know that’s exactly what the Bible teach would happen? In fact, the Bible tells us that the true Messiah would be rejected by Israel but accepted by the Gentiles. Now, that’s a good question to ask.
Can you think of any man who ever presented himself to Israel as a as a Messiah, that the Jewish people rejected that Gentiles accepted as being the true Messiah and have accepted Him as their Savior. Well, I’m afraid there’s only one, and that’s Jesus Christ. But as you go through the book of Acts, again and again and again, it uses the phrase repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, change your mind about God and about how He provides salvation, that it’s not a thing that we work for or earn or gain, but it’s something that God offers as a gift.
And when we trust Jesus as our Savior, we become saved. And unfortunately, most preachers define it as turning from sin. The reason why is they go to their English dictionary. And as I said before, the Greek word metanoia does not mean the same thing as the English word repent and their Satan got a great victory. You know, it’s amazing to me that many preachers will say, turn from your sin, repent of sin. And by the way, the phrase repent of sin does not even occur in your Bible.
You can look for that phrase in the King James Bible and the phrase repent of sin doesn’t even occur. I was surprised because I heard it used so often as a young person. I thought it was on every page of the Bible. But it’s not there, not even once. And another thing that’s interesting is in the Gospel of John, which most people consider a gospel track that you could actually take and give out the gospel of John and expect that somebody can read the gospel of John and become saved.
And guess what? How many times do you think the word repent occurs in the gospel of John? Are you ready for this? Zero. Zero. Not once. Not in any form. Not repent. Repentance. Repented. Not in the gospel of John at all. Wow. Now, if you have to use the word repent in order for summer to be saved, then how How can you give out the gospel of John and expect somebody to be saved? Well the answer is you don’t have to use the word repent.
Because when Jesus talked to Nicodemus and John 3 and told him that he had to be born again and the way to be born again was to trust Jesus Christ as Savior, John 3 16 is the heart of it, that whosoever believeth in Christ should not perish but have everlasting life. Obviously, Nicodemus was required to change his mind. It’s implied and when Nicodemus trusted Christ, he changed his mind from what he had previously believed all of his life that would get him to heaven and trusted in Jesus Christ as the one that God provided for our salvation.
